LED Street Lighting Energy Efficiency Program

This document is available to view in PDF format. LED Street Lighting Energy Efficiency Program Flyer

The Street Division of the Public Works Department has started replacing 249 of its existing streetlight fixtures with new energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures in the Hollywood Ridge, Poplar Grove, Dunhurst, Oldtown and Meadowbrook residential neighborhoods. Over the life of the LED fixtures, a total energy savings of approximately $200,000 is anticipated.
Some of the benefits of utilizing LED fixtures in lieu of metal halide fixtures include longer life expectancy, lower maintenance costs, and vast savings. This program will save energy, reduce Wheeling’s carbon footprint and decrease the environmental and health impact of the actual lighting product used. The conversion will be completed by means of Village forces.

How Will This Affect Me?

Improved Lighting - LED lights provide better light distribution than current metal halide fixtures.

Cost - There will be no additional charge or fee for this conversion.  The cost will be paid through the Federal grant
and savings in energy and maintenance.

Impact - The program will change the existing fixtures at the top of the pole to an LED unit. This will take approximately
30 minutes at each pole and there will be no impact to your property.

Hollywood Ridge, Poplar Grove, Dunhurst, Old Town and Meadowbrook residents are encouraged to provide feedback or comments on the new LED light fixtures via email to LEDSTREETLIGHTING@wheelingil.gov or by phone at (847) 279-6912.
