Building Services Division

The Building Services Division is responsible for general maintenance and repairs, such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc., of seven municipal facilities and two parking lots.  These municipal facilities include the Municipal Complex (Police and Fire Departments), Public Works, Village Hall, Metra Commuter Station, Senior Center, Police Impound Lot and Wheeling Cemetery. 
 
Building Services:
     ·   Maintains over 225 heating and cooling units.
     ·   Maintains over 2895 lighting fixtures (1-6 bulbs per fixture; interior, exterior and parking lot lighting).
     ·   Maintains over 66 exhaust fans (1/4 hp – 20 hp).
     ·   Maintains 355,000 square feet of building space.
     ·   Maintains three boilers with twelve circulating pumps.
     ·   Paints interior and exterior of municipal buildings.
     ·   Removes snow from municipal lots and commuter lots including sidewalks.

Additional responsibilities include overseeing private vendors with work being performed and assisting other departments and divisions with various special events and projects.  The division is committed to ensuring that the facilities are safe, clean and attractive to visit and work.
