The Engineering Department was recently reorganized and split between two departments:

            1) Engineering Division (Community Development) 
            2) Capital Projects and Design Division (Public Works)

The Engineering Division, now a Division within Community Development, is responsible for reviewing plans for new construction, assigning addresses and issuing the following permits: Driveways, Patios and/or Sidewalks, Parking Lots, Site Alteration, Floodplain Development, Non-substantial Improvement Floodplain Development, Soil Boring/Monitoring Wells/Environmental Studies and Right-of-Way. 

Staff maintains official maps with regard to infrastructure as well as enforcement of related Municipal Codes. Staff also provides technical assistance to other Village Departments and assists local businesses and Village residents in an advisory capacity with engineering issues.

The Capital Projects and Design Division, a newly created Division within Public Works,  is responsible for the design and inspection of most Village-sponsored infrastructure improvements including street resurfacing, water main replacements, sanitary and storm sewers, uniform fences and street light improvements. Inspection is also performed on the infrastructure of private development; development review is also a Departmental responsibility. Staff is also responsible for performing project management related tasks and activities for those projects in the Capital Improvement Plan.  Click here to learn more about the Capital Projects and Design Division of Public Works.
