Permit Info

Driveway/Patio/Sidewalk Permit

Please bring the following items to the Community Development Department located at 2 Community Boulevard to obtain a driveway, patio, and/or sidewalk Construction Permit from the Village of Wheeling:

1.  Completed Application for Construction Permit 
2.  Plat of Survey.
3.  Contractor's estimate  which clearly adheres to Village specifications. Click on the following links to view the spec sheets:

       Concrete
       Paver Brick
       Service Walks & Patios
       Cold Weather Concrete Specifications

4. $29.00 Driveway, Patio and/or Sidewalk Permit Fee.
5. $1,000.00 Parkway Restoration Deposit

Note: We strongly suggest that the homeowner have their contractor put up the parkway restoration deposit.  This should be a check made out to the Village of Wheeling which will be held for 60 days or until the final inspection of the permitted work is successfully completed.  Permits are not instantly approved and issued because inspection is required prior to issuance of a permit. This process may take 2 or more working days. 

Engineering hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm,  Monday through Friday.

Non-Substantial Improvement Floodplain Development Permit

When existing building is located within the flood plain (as known as Special Flood Hazard Area), any structural alteration to an existing building that either increases the first floor area by more than twenty percent (20%) or the building's market value by more than fifty percent (50%) will not be granted without bring the entire structure into compliance with the substantial improvement provisions of the Wheeling Municipal Code. 22.06.500.

Site Alteration Permit

Before land is cleared, graded, transported or otherwise disturbed by the movement of earth for purposes including, but not limited to, the construction of buildings, the mining of minerals, including sand and gravel, the development of golf courses, and the construction of roads and streets by any person within the Village, a Site Alteration Permit embodying the proposed earth movement shall be obtained from the Engineering Department, where development comes under any one or more of the following provisions, unless such development is exempted there from by Section 20.02.020 of the Wheeling Municipal Code
