Flooding - Floodproofing

Floodproofing your property is water proofing your home, raising the house above flood levels or protecting against sewer back up during heavy rains.

If you are in the floodplain and know a flood is coming,  you should shut off the gas and electricity and move valuable contents to a higher elevation. In a flooding situation, it is always helpful to have a prepared check list!

Any alteration to your building or property requires a permit from the Community Development Department.
