Community > SeniorNetOverviewThe SeniorNet Learning Center of Wheeling opened its doors in September 2002. It started out as a joint program sponsored by the Village of Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center and the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council. It was established to teach computer skills to older adults (50 or over) in a understandable, enjoyable and friendly way. Taught by all senior volunteers, we use PC compatible computers with Windows XP, MS Word software for teaching word processing, MS Works for Spreadsheets and Database. In addition, we offer classes on the Internet, Print Shop (graphics) Quicken (home accounting) Family Tree Maker (genealogy) Digital Camera and Windows. Since September of 2004 we are now totally sponsored by the Village of Wheeling and have taught over 400 students . Our class fee is $35.00 which includes all class materials for a 8 week class. The SeniorNet program is a national membership organization so membership is encouraged but not required. Annual membership fee is $40.00. SeniorNet is supported by memberships.
